UC Berkeley T-Shirts and More

While there is no student store on campus at the present time, there still are plenty of nearby spots to find great UC Berkeley gear and souvenirs – including the off-campus student store.

As part of the Lower Sproul Redevelopment Project, the official Cal Student Store, usually housed in the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Union, has been relocated across the street on Bancroft Ave., less than a block from its usual campus home. In addition, there are four other shops within one block of campus that prominently display licensed Cal items. Here is a quick rundown (see map above for approximate locations).

On Bancroft between Bowditch and Telegraph:

  1.  Cal Student Store – 2560 Bancroft Ave.

This is the temporary location of the official University of California, Berkeley student store. Find UC Berkeley clothing, imprinted school supplies, and all other matter of officially licensed items. The store features a special $10 t-shirt of the month and several Campanile 100-year anniversary shirts and related souvenirs.

  1. Bancroft Clothing Co. Collegiate Shop – 2530 Bancroft Ave. (enter through Bancroft Clothing)

The Collegiate shop claims to have “the world’s largest selection of official Cal merchandise.” Bancroft Clothing also carries a small assortment of T-shirts from Oaklandish and other local makers.

On Bancroft Ave. between Telegraph and Dana:

  1. The Student Store – 2470 Bancroft Ave.

This supplier of UC Berkeley-branded apparel, accessories, gifts, and collectibles had been the official student store prior to this school year.

Telegraph and Durant

  1. Bear Basics / T-Shirt Orgy – 2350 Telegraph

Bear Basics offers 2-floors full of UC Berkeley clothing for the whole family. This store also carries a wide selection of East Bay and Bay Area-themed t-shirts. (As a bonus, in the downstairs T-Shirt Orgy you will find shirts from your favorite rock band during high school – no matter when that might have been!)

  1. Joy’s Sportswear — 2433 Channing Way (enter mall on either Durant or Channing)

This small, though brimming, shop is located in the pedestrian mall that runs through the block between Durant and Channing Avenues (and is immediately next to Bear Basics). Joy’s offers a wide variety of affordable licensed Cal apparel and accessories.
